Day-by-Day Itinerary
Arrival in Mendoza. A Jibal representative will meet you at the airport and transfer you to our hotel in Mendoza. Settle in and rest before we gather for an evening team briefing to meet your guides and prep for the expedition.
Mendoza to Puente del Inca. After breakfast, we collect our park permits in Mendoza before transferring by minibus into the High Andes to Puente del Inca. We organize our mule loads and settle in for the night at 2,700m.
Puente del Inca to Horcones to Confluencia. We transfer to the Horcones park entrance to register our permits and begin a 4 to 5-hour trek into the valley. Enjoy dramatic views of Aconcagua's South Face as we arrive at Confluencia camp (3,390m).
Acclimatization Hike to Plaza Francia. To build solid acclimatization, we embark on a 5-hour trek to the breathtaking Plaza Francia viewpoint (4,000m). Here we take in colossal views of the vertical Aconcagua South Wall before returning to Confluencia.
Confluencia to Plaza de Mulas. We set off on an 8 to 9-hour trek across the vast Playa Ancha and up the steep Cuesta Brava. We arrive at Plaza de Mulas (4,300m), the bustling base camp town at the foot of the mountain, where a hot welcome meal awaits.
Rest & Prep at Plaza de Mulas. Our first full day at base camp is dedicated to rest and recovery. We undergo medical checkups, review climbing gear with the guides, and organize equipment loads for the high camps ahead.
Acclimatization Climb up Mt. Bonete. We climb Mt. Bonete (5,000m) to boost our acclimatization. Reaching this 5,000-meter summit rewards us with exceptional panoramic views of Aconcagua's West Face before we descend back to base camp.
Rest at Plaza de Mulas. A dedicated rest day to recover from Mt. Bonete. Working with our guides, we divide equipment, communal gear, and food loads to carry up to the higher camps the following day.
Plaza de Mulas to Camp 1 (Plaza Canada) to Plaza de Mulas. We carry equipment and provisions up nearly 700 vertical meters to Camp 1 (Plaza Canada, 5,050m). Stashing gear high and returning to base camp to sleep aids our acclimatization and lightens our final pack weight.
Rest at Plaza de Mulas. A full day of rest and recovery at base camp following our load carry. Relax, hydrate, and recharge before launching our official summit push into the high camps.
Plaza de Mulas to Camp 1 (Plaza Canada). We say goodbye to base camp and establish ourselves at Camp 1 (Plaza Canada, 5,050m). Well-acclimatized from our previous carry, we settle into high-altitude life on the mountain slopes.
Camp 1 to Camp 2 (Nido de Condores). We climb to Camp 2, Nido de Cóndores (5,550m), situated on a broad high plateau. Here we enjoy breathtaking panoramic mountain views and spectacular sunsets over the Pacific Ocean.
Acclimatization at Camp 2. We spend the day at Camp 2 resting and giving our bodies maximum time to adapt to 5,550m. Guides conduct light acclimatization walks and assess the group's readiness for the upper mountain.
Camp 2 to Camp 3 (Plaza Colera). A 4-hour climb along the North Ridge brings us to Camp 3 (Plaza Colera, 5,970m), our final high camp. We pitch tents, rest, and complete final gear checks and strategy discussions for the upcoming summit push.
Camp 3 to Aconcagua Summit (6,962m) to Camp 3. An early morning start takes us past Refugio Independencia, through Portezuelo del Viento, and up La Canaleta to Filo del Guanaco. Standing on the summit of Aconcagua (6,962m), enjoy an unforgettable 360-degree panorama before descending back to Camp 3.
Reserve Day 1. Built-in contingency day reserved for summit attempt flexibility in case of adverse weather conditions or necessary extra acclimatization high on the mountain.
Reserve Day 2. A second reserve day to ensure maximum flexibility and maximize our team's chances of standing on the summit under safe weather conditions.
Camp 3 to Plaza de Mulas. We descend from Camp 3 back to the comfort of Plaza de Mulas (4,300m) for a well-deserved celebration dinner at base camp with the team.
Plaza de Mulas to Horcones to Mendoza. We make our final trek down to Horcones, where private transport meets us to transfer us back to our hotel in Mendoza for a warm shower and city comforts.
Depart Mendoza. Enjoy breakfast at the hotel before transferring to the airport for your flight back home, leaving with the unforgettable memory of conquering the highest peak in the Western Hemisphere.
